Ski & snowboard lessons in Serre Chevalier

Book trusted instruction through Go Serre Chevalier

La liberté de partir

Ski and snowboard lessons are not just for first-timers. They are how you keep everyone safer, more confident, and actually enjoying the mountain together.

Through Go Serre Chevalier you can pre-book trusted local ski and snowboard schools, matched to your level, language, and holiday plans. We work with established, professional partners across the valley, so you get quality instruction without the guesswork.

Why lessons are a smart holiday upgrade

Lessons are one of the best investments you can make in your week.

Instead of spending days “finding your feet” on your own, a good instructor:

  • Builds your confidence in the first hour

  • Shows you the safest slopes for your level

  • Helps you avoid bad habits that are hard to fix later

For families and mixed groups, lessons calm a lot of the usual stress. Children settle into a routine, adults know where they stand, and you can meet up later in the day without drama or arguments on the wrong piste.

For experienced skiers and snowboarders, coaching turns a normal week into a real step forward. A few focused sessions can open up more of the mountain, from steeper reds to guided off-piste, in a safer and more controlled way.

Our partner schools in Serre Chevalier

We only work with schools we know and trust.

Across Briançon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve and Le Monêtier, our partner schools offer:

  • Qualified, professional instructors who know the local terrain inside out

  • Instructors who speak English, and often other languages too

  • Clear level groups so you are with people of similar ability

  • Good child-care standards, with patient, friendly staff

We stay in close contact with our partners throughout the season. That means up-to-date advice on which school is best for:

  • Very young children

  • Teenage snowboarders

  • Nervous adult beginners

  • Strong skiers wanting off-piste coaching

Instead of scrolling through websites trying to compare everything, you tell us about your group and we point you to the right fit.

Lessons for every level and every age

Whether it is your very first time on snow or your tenth year on skis, there is a format that suits you.

First-time and beginner lessons

If you have never skied or boarded before, a structured lesson from day one makes a huge difference. You will:

  • Learn how to stop and turn safely

  • Understand how lifts work before you get to a busy queue

  • Progress at a pace that feels manageable, not frightening

Beginners who start with lessons usually feel relaxed on green runs after a couple of days, rather than tense and exhausted.

Intermediate & confident skiers and boarders

Already happy on blue and red runs? Lessons are still valuable.

Instructors can help you:

  • Tidy up your technique so you use less effort

  • Handle steeper slopes and variable snow

  • Improve bumps, carving, or switch riding

  • Explore more of Serre Chevalier’s terrain safely

Small tweaks in posture, timing, or line choice often unlock tougher pistes and make the whole mountain feel more fun.

Children & teenagers

For younger ones, ski school is as much about having a good time as it is about learning.

Our partner schools offer:

  • Child-friendly beginners’ areas

  • Fun, game-based teaching

  • Group lessons in age and level bands

  • Options for teen freestyle and snowboard groups

They come back with new skills, new friends, and stories to tell over dinner, instead of feeling pushed around the mountain by parents.

Private lessons or group lessons?

Both can be excellent. The best choice depends on your goals, budget, and personality.

Private lessons

Private lessons are ideal if you want:

  • Fast progress with fully tailored coaching

  • Extra support if you are nervous or returning after an injury

  • Flexible timings that fit around childcare or work

  • Focus on a specific skill, such as off-piste or carving

You can book one-to-one or as a small private group of friends or family at a similar level. You set the pace and the focus.

Group lessons

Group lessons suit those who like a social, good-value option.

You benefit from:

  • Meeting others at a similar level

  • A structured progression through the week

  • Plenty of tips and demonstrations

  • Shared confidence as the group improves together

For many children and teenagers, group lessons are more fun than skiing only with adults. For adults, groups can add a nice social side, especially for solo travellers.

If you are unsure which to choose, we can talk through your options and suggest a mix, for example group lessons for the week plus one or two private sessions to unlock a sticking point.

Snowboard lessons in Serre Chevalier

Snowboarders are well catered for across the valley.

Our partner schools offer:

  • Beginner snowboard groups with patient instructors who remember how tricky that first week can feel

  • Progression groups for riders moving from green to blue and red runs

  • Private freestyle and park coaching

  • Off-piste and freeride sessions, conditions and ability dependent

If you have a mixed ski and snowboard group, we can align lesson times and meeting points so you still spend plenty of time together.

Why book lessons through Go Serre Chevalier?

You could book direct with a school. The advantage of booking through us is that you get a bit more guidance and a single, joined-up plan for your holiday.

When you book lessons with Go Serre Chevalier, we:

  • Look at your accommodation, dates, and village

  • Listen to the mix of ages, levels, and languages in your group

  • Recommend the partner school that suits you best

  • Suggest lesson times that work with your transfers and childcare

  • Handle the booking details with the school for you

This avoids common issues such as:

  • Booking lessons that start far from your accommodation

  • Putting family members in the wrong level

  • Choosing times that clash with transfers or kids’ mealtimes

You have one point of contact for your stay, which keeps life simpler.

How pre-booking works

Pre-booking is straightforward and strongly recommended for peak weeks, school holidays, and February and March dates.

Step 1: Tell us about your group

When you enquire or book accommodation, let us know:

  • Ages of all skiers and snowboarders

  • Rough level for each person, from complete beginner to very experienced

  • Preferred dates and times for lessons

  • Which village you are staying in

If you are not sure of levels, we will ask simple questions to place each person correctly.

Step 2: We match you with the right school and format

Based on what you tell us, we will:

  • Suggest private, group, or a mix

  • Recommend how many days and how many hours make sense

  • Propose a plan that fits with your wider holiday, including transfers and any other activities you have booked

You confirm what you want, and we secure the spaces with the school.

Step 3: Final details before you travel

Before you travel we will send:

  • Lesson times and dates

  • Meeting points, with clear directions from your accommodation

  • Contact details for the school

  • Any extra notes, such as helmet advice or lift pass requirements

If anything changes, you contact us and we will help liaise with the school where possible, following their terms and conditions.

Reassurance for beginners and nervous skiers

Feeling a bit anxious is very common, especially if it has been a while since you last skied, or you had a bad experience before.

Our instructors are used to:

  • Adults who are scared of lifts or heights

  • People worried about slowing a group down

  • Skiers and boarders who prefer a gentle pace

We can request an instructor who is patient and calm, and recommend quieter areas of the mountain at certain times of day. The aim is not to rush you, but to help you feel steady and in control, one step at a time.

If you are travelling with people who are much stronger on the mountain, lessons give you protected space to progress at your own speed while they go and explore. You then rejoin them feeling more secure and able to enjoy shared runs together.

Ready to plan your lessons?

If you already have a holiday booked with Go Serre Chevalier, contact our team with your dates and a quick outline of your group. We will come back with tailored lesson options and current availability.

If you are still choosing where to stay, we can help you pick a village and accommodation that works well with lessons for your family or group.

Get in touch by email or phone and we will put everything in place before you arrive, so you can step into your boots knowing your time on the mountain is organised, safe, and set up for real progress.
