La Ferme du Voyageur

A character-filled alpine farmhouse made for slow mornings, big dinners and mountain stories

La Ferme du Voyageur is not just a place to stay — it’s a house with a soul. Set in the peaceful hamlet of La Chirouze in La Salle-les-Alpes, this beautifully restored farmhouse sleeps up to 14 guests across 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, making it a rare find for larger families, groups of friends, or multi-generational ski holidays.

Just 1 minute by car or shuttle from the ski lifts — with the bus stop only 10 metres from the house — you’re close to the action without being right in the bustle of the piste-side crowds. The thing is, that little bit of space makes all the difference. Here, you wake up to mountain views, step out into the garden, stretch out on the deck, or take in the peaks of Briançon and Mont Prorel from the top-floor balcony.

Inside, the house invites you to travel. Old timber sits beside stainless steel, stone meets lime plaster, Afghan rugs soften the floors, and tartan wool brings warmth to the rooms. Each bedroom has its own atmosphere, carrying you from the Tibetan plateau to Swiss lakes, Alaskan fjords and the valleys of the Hindu Kush.

A farmhouse with a traveller’s soul

The Space

Spread across three levels, La Ferme du Voyageur has been designed for groups who want space, privacy and places to come together.

The house sleeps 14 guests in 7 double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. There are 3 bathrooms with bathtubs and 4 with showers, so there’s no morning bottleneck before ski school, lift opening or that first coffee.

All double beds can be separated into twin beds, which makes the layout brilliantly flexible for families, couples, friends and mixed groups.

Garden level

The former vaulted stable has been transformed into a relaxed, atmospheric lounge with a strong sense of adventure. Inspired by Native American influences, this is the spot for late-night stories, games, films, and post-ski debriefs around the stainless-steel bar.

There’s a flat-screen TV, games area, Sonos sound system and plenty of space for children or teenagers to have their own zone while adults enjoy the upper floors.

This level also includes two suites, each with its own bathroom and WC. One has a 160 cm bed, the other a 180 cm bed.

Ground floor

A beautiful entrance in reclaimed Austrian wood leads to four double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.

Three bedrooms have 180 cm beds, and one has a 160 cm bed. As with the rest of the house, the beds can be split into twins if required — a proper game-changer for group holidays.

Top floor

Up in the eaves, the main living space is flooded with light thanks to a large picture window framing the mountains beyond.

This level brings everyone together, with a generous lounge, dining area, central fireplace, and a striking designer kitchen by Stéphane Barbier Bouvet. It’s the heart of the house — made for long breakfasts, raclette nights, shared bottles of wine and those “shall we do one more run tomorrow?” conversations.

The top floor also includes the 30 m² master bedroom, complete with its own bathroom and bathtub.

Eco-conscious renovation

La Ferme du Voyageur has been restored with care, using noble materials and traditional techniques wherever possible.

The house combines old Alpine character with considered modern comfort. Heated floors are powered by solar panels, while natural materials — old wood, stone, lime render and wool — give the property its warm, grounded feel.

It’s stylish, yes. But it’s not showy. It feels lived-in, thoughtful and quietly luxurious.

Whats Included

The house is exceptionally well equipped for a self-catered mountain stay.

You’ll have a heated ski room, so boots are warm and dry in the morning; honestly, one of those small luxuries you’ll appreciate every single day.

There’s a Sonos system on the garden level, a separate hi-fi system on the top floor, and a 65-inch The Frame flat-screen TV with DVD player and the option to connect games consoles.

The kitchen is set up for proper cooking, with a Nespresso coffee machine, raclette and fondue equipment, two ovens, four fridges, two dishwashers and a freezer. Big group dinner? No problem.

You’ll also find a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron, two hairdryers, a travel cot, plenty of books and magazines, and one private parking space. Additional public parking is nearby.

Linen and towels are provided, and the beds will be made for your arrival.

Location

La Ferme du Voyageur is located in the hamlet of La Chirouze, in La Salle-les-Alpes, one of the key villages of Serre Chevalier.

It’s slightly tucked away from the busier lift-base areas, but still brilliantly connected. The ski lifts are around 1 minute away by car or shuttle, and the bus stop is just 10 metres from the house.

You get the best of both worlds: fast access to the slopes, then a peaceful retreat at the end of the day.

Good to know

End-of-stay cleaning includes linen and towels.

Guests are asked to leave the kitchen clean before departure: sink and worktops wiped, dishwasher emptied, and crockery put away.

Bins should be taken to the public containers located in the public parking area, around 20 metres below the house.

Standard check-in is from 16:00 and check-out is by 10:00.
